Scheduling a Move

Most people don’t move very often and don’t know when they should start planning their move.  So, when is the right time?

It is never too early to talk to a mover.  That being said, it also depends on how far you are moving.

Local moves can usually be scheduled with less notice than a long-distance move.  It is great to get an in-home estimate for your local move about one month prior to your move date.  That gives you time to review it and ask questions without feeling too rushed.  However, we can often schedule a local move with just a few days notice, depending on the size of the move and the time of year.

If you are moving long-distance, you should try to get an estimate 1-6 months before your move.  You can sometimes lock in the date and price of your move up to 6 months in advance.  However, in order to get an accurate estimate, the key is to have a good idea of what you are going to take.  So, if you are still sorting through your house and getting rid of things, it may be best to wait until you are finished.

The timeframes above are guidelines only, but remember that we will do everything we can to accommodate your schedule, no matter how tight it may be.  It is never too early to call us and talk to a relocation consultant, who can help you decide when to start the process.
